Thanks I have an i3 and the maps for that is nt2008 some people refer to them as v10.I have updated to 4.20 with xt but not much difference from 4.10.You would think they would wait until the software was worth updating with somthing like a new interface.

so does that mean buying a new version just for an interface change. In nearly all other cases the maps are updatable.Ithink i will stick with what i have.

No, there are other improvements also. One which I know of is a google search, which depending on how good it is, could be extremely powerful.

I use XT on my 8GB. Does anybody know if you can have 2 countries maps loaded at the same time? So you switch between them? Or do you havnt to remove the one that is on it to install the other one?

I've put the whole of Europe and the USA maps on mine. This is how you do it:

1. Using MapSource, transfer the first map set onto your phone. For this example, lets call this the Europe maps. This will put the following file onto your device:

E:\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.IMG

2. Close MapSource. Goto the above file on your phone's memory card and rename it to:

E:\Garmin\GMAPSUP2.IMG

Note: only the last 'P' has been changed to a '2', so the same amount of characters in the name total.

3. Restart MapSource and transfer the next map set to your phone. Lets say this is the USA map set. This will put the following file onto your device again:

E:\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.IMG

4. Now you will have two files:

E:\Garmin\GMAPSUP2.IMG (Europe)
E:\Garmin\GMAPSUPP.IMG (USA)

5. Load up Garmin XT. Goto 'Tools'. Goto 'Manage My Data'. Goto 'Map Sets'. You should now see the following:

1) Basemap
2) USA

3) EU

I've not tried but I assume you could do this limitless amounts of times just changing the filename by one digit each time.

Hope this helps.

As far as I know from reading on the forums its not "limitless amounts" of time. It supports 3 maps at a time and they have to be named GMAPSUPP, GMAPSUP2 and GMAPPROM (or something I am do not remember the last one correctly). Maybe our resident expert on GPS Bart can say something concrete.
