[DIY] Upgrading N95 Battery

I am sure this has been discussed on one level or another, but I thought I would throw it out there...

I have seen (probably off a link from here) someone sand down the battery cover of their N95, just by a few mm, and thus increasing the space enough to install a superior N95 8GB battery. I was thinking of buying a spare cover, about £4 I think, and have a crack at it...

What are your thoughts? Have you done it? Is it worth the hassle? Where is a good place to pick up a genuine N95 8GB battery?

Just thought it would be a little project to do one day. If I go ahead with it, I will document it and let you know how I got on!

I haven't done this myself , but in theory you should get around 25% more life from the battery if you compare the capacity of each.

You can get hold of BL-6F on eBay, or just search around on google. You should be looking at around £30 for a genuine battery.

is it worth it though? i mean the cover is already thin. if you make it any thinner wont it crack with less effort? how much thicker is the bl-6f vs the 5f?

To be honest, its probably not worth it. I have The BL-6F in my N95-3 and its not good for more than two days, if that. I don't know how bad the 5F is but if you're an active user of your phone, the 6F won't do much better.

Mmm... Well, I will keep it in mind, but I think your right, it is a bit of a mission. If I come across a BL-6F battery somwhen I will consider it. Otherwise - If it aint broke, don't fix it! Thanks guys!

you can always have a go at it wooers. the bl-6f should be just a few mm thicker. so you can try sanding the cover as much as you can.

I saw some people fitting the Crystal cases on to the n95 which gave that bit of extra space for a BL-6F to be placed into the N95. I was wondering whether to do this, but I heard that these crystal cases were not too good.
