Just used this on the back of my 8g to remove the Vodafone logo and it seemed to be working well until all of a sudden though a hole appeared on the 'rubber' finish!

Now there's this horrible 'blister' there staring back at me saying "you just couldn't leave it alone could you?"

:-(

Isn't acetone is too strong a solvent to remove logos?

If you ever have used acetone or ethanol on plasticky things, such as a cd case for example, that leaves a burn mark...a clouded area.

I used to have a N70, with a T/mobile logo on the front and back....and that drove me insane! The phone was unlocked so there was no point in having that.

So, I went into a lab, and I tested every solvent I could remember...

And eventualy, the solvent that worked for me and that removed both logos, leaving an immaculate cover was DMF (Dimethil Formamide).

Okay, not tried it myself, but my old man used to swear by surgical spirit to clean things off. He used to use it to take the sticky gunk off his floppy discs when he changed the labels. I have used it on CD cases before without any clouding of the plastic.

Just used it today to take some double sided sticky foam off my desk, and it didn't seem to mark the laminate layer, maybe it could be worth a try?

Drat! I wish I'd read to the end of the thread before trying it - I used pure Acetone to try to get the "Vodafone" off the back of my N95 8GB (above the camera) and after a few minutes the black coating started bubbling and coming off... and underneath you can faintly see the Vodafone mark in the plastic base. looks like they imprinted it so hard that it wasn't going to come off without the rubber underneath it.
