I did it!!!!! just a couple of days ago. I was EXTREMELY afraid to open up my n95 8gb but i said the hell with it. Followed the updated instuctions and voila! I had a near heart attack when putting the metal rail back in, as the little white plastic slider it sits on just popped out and the screen just came up!! but i kept my composure and all went well, it just all snapped back in. It seems as though there are various types of tape that can be used, so I just went ahead and used (3) layers of regular scotch tape and that did the trick, even with my very loose slider. If your still deciding if you should do it or not, just do it! make sure you have the torx bit (magnetized) and a brand new razor blade and a credit card to help with the removal of the rear panel.

I have the N95-4 and it had plain old Phillips screws and not the Torx ones. Just thought I should mention it as it may save someone some money.

The fix did work! Thanks!!

Maybe they figured that because it was made for the North American market, we wouldn’t be able to figure out the Torx thing. I mean, we can’t even figure out the metric system so this would be a long shot.

I am thinking about doing this on my N95-2, but was just wondering does it void any sort of warranty opening it up?
