The clever guys have tried for nearly a year and got nowhere with a software-only fix... So yes, hardware mod only so far...

For those 8gb users among you who were stunned by that scary red light fix, i've devised a slightly easier method. This is a clever one mind you, took lots of thought.

1. Take a small length of pvc electrical insulation tape, and carefully cut out a 6.5mm square.
2. Place it over the led aperture.

Works a charm! :)

I have the N95-3 (North American version) and turning warning tones off disables shutter sound.

I have thought of that before but it's not somthing I would do as by doing so you loose the white led too!
