Washed my N95-3...
So I ran my N95-3 through a wash cycle this weekend. Spent probably 30 min or so in the wash.
After taping it to the back of my LCD sceen's vents to dry it our for a couple days, I think its dry now. Although I knew the battery would be totally hosed, I gave it a shot anyway, and of course it didnt work. So even though I'm sure the battery won't hold a charge, I tried turning it on while hooking it up to my charger....nothing still.
So I could buy a new battery....in the hopes that my phone is still working...but just needs a *working* battery in place to operate.
But I figured FIRST, I would ask some of you to try out turning on your N95 WITHOUT a battery inserted (to emulate my dead battery)....but still hooked up to your charger to see if your phone works. If it does, then my N95 is hopeless....if it does not...then I will order a replacement battery with my fingers crossed.
thanks,
/mario

I'm sure you NEED a battery in the phone for it to work mate,it will NOT come on or work via the mains alone.

Yes, it MUST have the battery in for it to turn on.
A quick dunk and a phone will usually recover, but a full wash it pushing it a bit I think..... we can hope though.

A full wash may have caused the water to penetrate into the LCD screen innards, you're gonna have a bad time if that happened. Get a new battery and give it a go.

LCDs are usually the most problematic parts, but you can replace it yourself if you order a new one if there do turn out to be any problems.
In some cases a wash can be less severe than it looks. I know several friends that washed their iPods and they came out OK. One of them even said his nano sounded better after the ordeal.

As mentioned above, yes, you need a battery in the N95 to power up. It won't power up with just the charger plugged in.
Good luck with it, let us know how you get on, although, I won't hold my breath.

they should just make washers with bluetooth so that they make an audible warning if a phone is within a couple feet of it or something.

Most hopeful thinking thread of the year I think... Realistically the battery is going to be the least of your problems if you have WASHED your phone! Sorry Pal..
Like the bluetooth washer idea too!
