Virus on the N95 ???????
Hope this isn,t a dumb question but is it possible to get a virus on your mobile phone? was thinking that as i am surfing the net on my n95 and the n95 is basically a small pc then surely it is possible to pick up a virus. If it is possible then how do i protect the phone??? Would i also need spyware and privacy defences installing and again if so hows it done? Havent used the phone for surfing since this concern arose.
Would be grateful for any input!

i don't know much about this (prevention/which phones/OSs are targeted etc). But viruses do now exist for mobile phones.

Yeap, you can get a virus on the N95! =D...er.. i mean =( rofl jk
There is a software on S60 sites and i think its on Nokia's market page too. Its called like F-Scan or something. Its a virus protection program. You can also go to Download! under main menu on the phone and you'll have the choice to download the program from there. you'll have to pay i believe =D

Mobile phone viruses have been about for an age, I used to have a 6600 and recall people downloading a "fly swat" game that used the camera, many copies of this doing the rounds on P2P 'sites included a virus that sent premium rate text messages in the background. A virus on a phone could indeed be costly!

Note to add, you won't pick one up just surfing the web, most likely only by installing apps you've downloaded free of charge...

Unless I'm very much mistaken, you can't just "catch" a virus by browsing.
You have to be stupid enough to install it first.
Always get your software from a reputable, legal site and you will not have any problems with software in general.
Also, leave your bluetooth OFF unless you want to use it, to stop people "sniffing" you out.

It is not true that it's impossible to catch a virus by web browsing.
If a flaw is discovered in the browser software, it could be exploited by a web site and thus infect your phone when you visited that site.
I'm not scaremongering - flaws do get discovered, software is not perfect, but the chance of you going to an exploiting site between a security flaw being discovered and Nokia issuing a fix, is relatively low.
