So the phone still works even after the update failing halfway through ?

Another update.........

Spoke to another chap at Nokia and when I told him
that a certain mobile phone outlet/Nokia Care Point
didn't want to know about the problems last week,
he attempted to contact the store to make sure
they dealt with me when I take the phone back
there tomorrow.

They were unavailable.

Seemingly despite my having bought the phone from
a company online, I *can* deal through Nokia.

Either way he suggested another crack at a firmware
update and we located another Care Point to try,
albeit of the same retail chain.

I suggested that I might be in contact again to
which he chuckled

the eeprom should still be working so its just a matter of flashing the phone!!

because before nsu starts to update it makes a "bookmark" so if the update gots tits up then hopefully you can start again and everything will be fine...but because nsu has so many flaws this happens!!!!

it's happened to me loads of times... im just lucky i have a nice guy at my local nsc :) poor bloke gets about 20 phones like this every day because nsu has ****ed up....

worst piece of software in my opinion!!

if you want a good number, for nokia phone 0845 0555 777 thats the best number it should go to the nokia switch board ask to be put through "careline" and their is a nice guy with a arabic accent.. really helpful!! or another guy called gary i think ,

any problems pm me!

Managed to get the firmware update (same firmware
but reinstalled) at another branch of the mobile
phone retailer but the thing still crashes so it leads
me to believe that it's a hardware problem.

The phone is beside me at the moment and as long as
I don't exercise the phone too much it works. That's
unsatisfactory of course because as soon as I try
GPS or WiFi or the camera or any other feature that
is not a basic function like calling it is unusable.

Got in contact with Nokia over the phone (landline,
not N95!) last night and was promised a call
within twenty-four hours but I doubt whether that will
materialise due to it being a Saturday.

It looks as though it will be another call to Nokia
on Monday and possibly something more concrete.
Maybe that's a suitable word considering I have
what is almost a brick!

Hey N95 people Im a newb here. I just purchased a n95 and had the same problem. I figured it out to be the battery is very loose. When I put it in my pocket and took it out it would be off. I tapped on the side of the phone lightly when it was on and it would shut off.

Im going to start a tread on this not sure if it has been seen b4

Funny you should mention that because that's one
thing that I noticed about mine. Only thing is I didn't
think it was important enough to mention

....wrapping things up?

Just to finish this particular episode hopefully, I finally sent the N95 back to Play, received a replacement and after a couple of hours or so
it is fine. One interesting note is that unlike the old phone, the battery in this one is not loose.........
