Top keypad crackle
To the right of my top smaller keypad I've been getting a crackle sound and it's quite annoying. It won't do it on the left so I re-ordered a new one but man I paid alot for it and I'm starting to think it wasn't the keypad.
Has anyone experienced this before?

I've never really known what 'loose' means in terms of this phone. My slider won't slide itself down from the upright position. The slider I do not roughly slide up and down but I have seen on other YouTube videos where the right side of the slider has a gab to the base and makes a click sound when pushed. That is not the case with this phone, there is some area where it will show that it is pushed down but no click sound on the slider. This is a crackle sound of the actual keypad I believe but I'm really not sure. It sounds like the plastic keys rubbing on eachother as you push it down. I have tried taking the keypad out moving the keys around. When the top faceplate is not on it, and the keys are just resting on the white area, it doesn't make the sound. Only when the faceplate is on. This is a genuine faceplate that I have recently ordered though it didn't do it before when I had purchased the phone and the original faceplate was on; at least I THINK it didn't. Maybe it has been here for the whole time and I haven't noticed.

Have you tried refitting the original face plate, to see if this sound (crackle) goes away? If so, check the backing of the faceplates. Where did you get the replacement faceplate from?
Just to confirm also, what firmware is your handset running? Check my sig below on how to find out. Just need to confirm we are dealing with a genuine handset thats all.

Bad thing is, and I'm never going to do thid again, I've chucked out the old faceplate.
I will get to the checking the phone now, watch this area. I will update the post.
Ok bad news and I really hope I haven't a copy. I tried typing *#0000# into the phone main menu and nothing came up. If this is a copy, it is darn perfected and guys, I mean PERFECTED. WLAN works, everything works but one thing I find that doesn't work is the GPS, I've never had it get a lock since I got this phone so this is most interesting. This is on a plan with Three ( www.three.com.au). It has the Three Logo on the back printed on the back faceplate. I am really most unhappy if I have a copy. I can't get this phone back to them until I have my replacement Camera window back on it with the back faceplate installed. Once this phone is back to scratch it's going to have to go back to them. Please help.

Good news has arrived, I followed another user on this forum and got it working by taking the battery out, waiting a min, placing back in. Now I have the code working so it's genuine.

Ok, firmware does confirm its genuine, so that's a relief for you.
As to your maps, and gps, have you installed Nokia Maps 2.0?

Have you tried the following to see if you can get a lock ?
Menu>Connectivity>GPS Data>Position
Keep the slider open, and leave your N95 for ten minutes with a clear view of the sky.
Let us know how you get on.

I will once I get the Camera Window back on because the open lens will get dust in it. I fear that my recent new faceplate may be a clone and is not genuine, it looks identical to the original and I mean IDENTICAL. The insides even have the light cream white marking around the side. I THINK it's genuine, I'm not really sure.
Anyway, it was from an ebay listing, the only one that according to the feedback from other members, deemed genuine.
Original Nokia N95 8GB Warm Black Front Cover Housing - eBay Other Nokia Accessories, For Nokia, Mobile Phone Accessories, Mobile Home Phones. (end time 19-Aug-08 15:56:48 AEST)
Anyway I'm going to need a good list of suppliers as I'm always ordering parts, if you guys don't mind, you too Micky, please share all of your Nokia suppliers in website form.
All I have is blueunplugged who I find expensive but ships to me, and Accessory Link. That is all I have.
