camera shutter button

After updating my N95 (RM-159) to the latest firmware version that the NSU provides (21.0.016) the camera shutter button no longer takes pictures or focuses the camera.

The button is physically working, as it brings the phone out of standby, and when pressed actually starts recording video when set to video mode.

I've rung nokia's helpdesk but all they can say is that the downloaded update must have been corrupted, however i've tried this on two PCs and the update still does the same thing.

Welcome to the forums.

Do you have any other camera application installed at all? If so, what?

Thanks for replying.

No, just the usual - ie open the camera shutter and phone opens the camera app itself.

Ok. So this only started to happen after you upgraded to V21.?

How old is your N95?

You could try and reinstall the firmware again, but it looks as though you have already done this.?

Switch the phone off.

Remove battery.

Leave battery out for 30+ minutes.

Replace battery, and switch on.

Then try.

Let us know how you get on.

yep, did that. i had an issue with my previous phone, the n80 where after an update it failed to connect to 3G. Nokia's helpdesk asked me to not only pull the battery, but also the sim card. Removal of the sim card somehow fixed the issue - so I've also done that here. Sadly, in this case it didn't help the issue.

It's just over a year old, should still be under warranty. I intend to take it to the shop when I've got some spare time for repair. I'm just hoping they're not going to tell me I've voided the warranty by doing the update.

Let us know how you get on. Your 24 month warranty should still be valid providing you didn't debrand in order to upgrade firmware.

Should you need to replace the actual main camera, this place sells them..
