Pal, you made me so happy with this post... my
N95 phone's camera now work again.
I had to physically hit the phone using my two hands, kind of five or so claps and the camera works back again.
It seems the camera internal mechanics get stuck under normal usage (my 1 week phone had no impact before) and we have to help it to get to it's normal resting position, or else there will be no image at all coming from it, no shutter sound and no red lights -- it really looked like the whole camera circuitry was dead.
Kind of a tricky phone, isn't it? It wouldn't surprise me if you hit it more than what it needs, those mechanics get back to the stuck position... this might be your current situation.
Another tip for you folks: when recording a video more than 3 or 4 minutes, the phone restarts or halts. I thought this was a bug and did an upgrade to v21 but the real thing is that the phone halts or hangs when the processor is hot, no meter if its recording, taking bursts of pictures, playing videos or playing games.
I live in Rio de Janeiro, not the hottest part in the world, but surely not cold enough for
N95 (bought here) -- putting it in front an air conditioner or aiming a wind blower at it makes it record a video for the promised 60 minutes... and of course I'd better wear it out from its velvet-like carapace.
Can someone tell me if this is a bug with
N95-1 project or I need to replace it?
In winter I'll post back again :)
best regards,
Luiz.
