camera activation

hi
my camera won't activate when i open the lens cover, if i got direct to the camera apllication it only shows the front cover with no option to select the back camera, i'm on v11 firmware as this phone is o2 so i can't risk debranding if i might need to take it back, but hopefully avoiding that.

1. When you slide the lever to open the lens cover, you don't see what the camera sees on your screen?

2. With the lens cover closed, when you select the camera application in 'Menu', you see what the front-mounted camera sees on your screen?

Have I got that correct?

What do you see when you select the camera application with the lens cover open?

As opening the lens cover is supposed to activate the camera, it sounds as though your phone is faulty I'm afraid... It should be covered under guarantee though... :)

Options, select primary camera.

The camera stays on the last setting used (ie Video, front/secondary camera etc). It doesn't default to cam mode everytime it's used ;)

Are you sure about that?

If I select Options/use seconday camera in camera mode, when I turn the camera off, either by 'Exit' and then on again by selecting the 'camera' icon, or by closing & then opening the protective shutter, mine reverts back to primary camera each time without fail...

I tested this before I posted to say that the OP's camera seemed faulty.

Try yours again? I'm puzzled now! (nothing new for me though!) ;)

I'm on v10, and does for me. I'm assuming V11 still has this also.

That's interesting, I'm on v12 and that behaves as I've described... I've just checked this on a second v12 set and it's the same default action as mine... Now we need someone with v11... ???

I don't remember this being listed in the changes details... so we're both right in this instance!

TBH, I don't think many users would elect to use the front cam for anything other than video calling.

So to confirm, if you say use the video mode, shut the cam app, when it re-opens it defaults back to the camera mode on v12?
