Im gonna have to agree with salada2k, I cannot think of any legitimate reason why firmware upgrades for the same hardware designation, rm-159, could have compatibility issues with hardware subcomponents which may differ to due manufacturing dates or locations.

yea same here ....
ummm... does any1 suspect it might be a virus? ... cuz i received a file just seconds be4 the screen went nuts ...

although i did do a hard reset and re-flash of the software ...

another reason not to think its the firmware is the problem .. cuz i now loads ppl that installed V12 and worked .. and mine worked for a long while too

But what i don't get it .. why does it sometimes (day in day out) work .. when it does .. i press a button the screen shifts to the right and gives different colours (its like if its RBY first button give R(red) only then B(blue) only then Y).

Cheers,

I may be wrong, I only trade in parts and don't carry out any repairs.

All I know is the Nokia did release a new screen for the N95 a couple of months ago - was stated this is for 12.0.013 or later

when you say it that way, it sounds more like a legitimate possibility.
It is feasible that for some reason the new lcd could not be backwards compatible with the previous instruction set (or whatever the commands to the lcd are called).

But I dont think that it would be the cause of the problem in this case.

1- i was int he car and the sun was hitting directly in it .. and i was connecting it to the cassette ... (but i have a black ..lets say cloth...over it)
2-i received a song from my sister's mobile (might had a virus)
3- i was browsing and chatting for .. might be a prolonged time .. but I've been on it for much more be4...

Thats interesting, coz thats when my screen screwed up... when I upgraded to 12. Maybe this guy has a point - although it seems totally unreasonable. Stranger things have happened (maybe "older" n95's had the old screen part, and newer ones ship with the newer screen??)

If I know well it's possible cause of the heat the screen goes crazy, and has some weird colors. Once I saw an LCD screen which was burnt. My friend left it in the car without any protection for hours. Well, the screen was totally melt down. But yours is flashing what is quite strange. I don't think so it was the sun or a virus. It's more possibly a faulty LCD connection. But maybe i'm wrong.
