i know some people were saying stuff about firmware, if that is the case, the latest version of firmware is like, v20. if you did have a problem with your previous one, theys a good chance this one could fix it. can't see it myself though personally.
and i don't think the drops you've mentioned would effect it, mine falls off my desk quite frequently, which is like, 3 foot. onto laminate flooring.
and once i've went to pick it up in a hurry and it's flew in the air over my head then back down, i thought for sure it was deceased. picked it up, pressed a button, and had life!

All I know is the Nokia did release a new screen for the N95 a couple of months ago - was stated this is for 12.0.013 or later

Yup, the reason they changed screen was something to do with FM interference or something, can't remember exactly!

So in effect, a concealed component upgrade to cure the 'whistling screen' problem... cheaper than a total recall I guess... Crafty Nokia! <g>

It would need to be a very clever virus-writer indeed that could cause software to physically damage a mechanical component!
It's far more like to be the result of a drop or jolt that's dislodged or damaged the screen-cable connection or the screen itself.
By design, the screen isn't glued or secured within the slider in any way, it doesn't even sit on any cushioning or gasket, it relies on the close fit of the fascia-plate to hold it in place. This means that an impact to the phone is transmitted directly to the screen.

lol, hey y4life
actually i dont know if u realized .. but N95 is forbidden in egypt...although they sell it in the stores its still "illegal" and if u take it to any shop (Raya or I2) they will refuse to fix it .. even if u have an international warranty (from I2 like i do) .. i went to their service centers a few time .. but no luck
Anyways .. im sent mine back to kuwait .. hoping for a full fix .. or a new one .. or maybe an "update" for the 8Gb with paying a few more pounds...who knows..
anyways thanks for ur reply
cheers,
