N95 Light Sensor Problem

just wondering if anyone of u experiance this..

my screen turns pitch black at noon.. when im either driving (with or without maps) or walking down the street typing sms.. under the hot afternoon sun..

what happens, is that suddenly, the screen of the phone turns black.. (as if the light sensor's sensitivity is set to minimum) if i tilt the phone slightly, i can still see the screen.. its like the phone lost its background light..

then.. when i cover the light sensor with my finger, the screen's lights up again..

also, at night, when im sleeping.. in pitch darkness.. i receive a text message, slide phone open, the screens seems to be flickering.. as if the phone could not seem to make up its mind to make it brighter or darker..

initially i thought it was firmware problem.. so i did a hard reset (the 7370 thinggie).. still the same.. then i tried re-installing the firmware (via NSU, 12.0.0.14), still the same..

finally i sent the phone back to nokia for warranty claims.. they said it'll take 4-5 working days to diagnose the phone.. !@#$%^&

anyone here knows whats wrong with the phone? its only 6months old..

Odd problem. Hate to say it but a hard reset may be your next step.

Remember to backup all data then hit *#7370#.

Be warned, this will result in a loss of all data stored on the phone (hence the backup).

If the screen is flickering like that then it's almost certainly a hardware problem. Take it to the service centre mate.

It could be an LCD problem rather than the light sensor problem, since the screen flickers and changes brightness at odd times when it shouldn't.

Let us know when your N95 is repaired. Cheers!

its still at service centre :(

im quite sure it has something to do with the light sensor.. because this problem only occurs when im standing under the blazing hot sun.. or when im driving and the sun shines directly on the phone.. (have to put it there to use its GPS functions)

when the screen goes dark, all i have to do, is shade the light sensor, or cover the light sensor completely with my finger.. and the screen returns to normal.

a friend's n93i has the same problem, and was rectified at service centre.. under warranty..

mayb nokia should have their light sensors tested under blazing noon equatorial sun..
