Unhappy my phone is crashing

I just got my 8GB Sandisk today and firstly it was working well, but after installing some mp3 files on my PC the Phone crashed at starting. After starting without card I wanted to format the card in system / storage ?
but short before the end of formating the programm crashes and formating is not possible.
At the PC I can format the card, but my phone is still crashing?
I do have firmware 11.0.026 german Vodafone branded phone. 2 weeks old
On PC the cad seems to be alright every test with windows will be confirmed..
so what`s wrong?
is the card broken or does the phone/firmware does not work with this card?????

The phone should work ok with an 8GB card... Format the card in Menu/Tools/Memory/Options. If the phone still crashes when using it, the next step is a factory reset of the phone (*#7780#) If that doesn't cure it then a hard-reset (*#7370#) may be needed... See here for details.

Hello,
I tried both now: factory reset and hard reset..:-(
both times the card can`t be formated in menu/tools/memory/options
always short time before finishing the bar is stopping and nothing happens...
is this the phone or the card??

Have you access to another phone that you can format the card in, to be sure that it is the card that's faulty?... It certainly sounds like it from what you say... Where did you get the card from?

EDIT: Can you format any other cards ok in the phone?

unfortunately I do not have access to another phone. I will go to a Vodafone Shop on Thursday, maybe they can try it..
I got my card from an official (internet) shop in Germany originally sealed by Sandisk.
The problem is that it is running on PC without any problems, so why shall they give me a new one?

Before anyone can give you a new anything, you need to establish if the fault is in the phone or the card... So until Thursday, if you don't have another card to try formatting and no access to another N95, then as you say, there isn't a lot that you can do!

Please keep us informed, this is a strange fault, wherever it lies...

after I reset the phone I formated the card on the PC and installed most of my programms new. I transfered the mp3s per Nokia PC Suite and also the maps of Route66. Everything fine Route66 brought me to my parents. The music was running. Just one small crash by downloading a 12MB podcast onto the card (but this is maybe a bug?). no other crash until I put the card out of the phone and started Nokia maps!!! (version 1 because 1.2 does not start) I loaded down some maps and put the card back to the phone. After starting and finishing Nokia maps the phone crashed. After that I could not open USB file transfer mode - only PC-Suite mode. I put out the card of the phone again and to the PC with the USB adapter..deleting all maps with Nokia maps... but that doesn`t helped. Now my phone is crashing quite often!
I will not have the time to test it tomorrow, but I will format the card once more and will try if maybe the Nokia map programm is the bloody reason! I also have to test if maybe putting the card into the PC is the reason....
I will let you know, but please don`t hesitate telling me if someone knows something about this fault?????
.. but there is still the fault that I cannot format the card inside the phone?
thanks a lot

edit: 26.12.2007
today I formated the card once more and shifted some files on the card via PC Suite... after ca. 4GB the connection was disconnected and the phone crashed.... I deleted some files and now have about 3,5GB files left on the card. The phone works very stabil now for 6 hours.... so it seems to be a 4GB border.... in the phone???

edit: 27.12.2007
today I got the info from 2 different phone shops (one of them Nokia service shop) that the N95 is only able to provide maximum 4GB datas (I don`t have told them about my 4GB experience, I just told them that I have problems with my 8GB card!)
Unfortunately nobody could tell me if this problem is solved with the new firmware 20.0... (for my Vodafone phone no new firmware is available at the moment!)

So if somebody has the new firmware on his phone and more than 4GB datas on the card please let me know!!!

Thanks so long

Talking it`s working!

today I`ve got a new firmware update 20.. by my local Vodafone-Shop. It is the original FW from Nokia, no Vodafone branding!
Everything is working with the 8GB card! I installed 2 different navigation programs, many mp3s and videos and so on..
everything is working properly..
So obviously the 4GB info is wrong!!!
The only reason for the crash was the Vodafone branding 11...
beside there is more RAM memory and some more features.. just a new clock with a better alarm function and so on
I have to find out now
thanks to all of you and a happy new year!!
