No, your GPS only runs with any applications that use it. Once you have exited any applications that use the internal gps, your gps will then be switched off also.

i have same trouble with my N95 8gb.. battery was fine intil i installed tom tom navigator 6.. thats when the trouble began as the battery was draining from full in 12 hours. so i formatted the mass memory and did a firmware update but its still no good..

i dont think any of the keys are stuck but i have no idea how i can see what progs are running in the background.. the GPS shouldnt be running after a firmware update should it?.. ordered a new battery in case its gone pear shaped but its looking like the problem is not the battery
