Battery Life - sudden drop in standby time

Now, I know that the N95 is pretty dire when it comes to battery life but somehow - probably a combination of the latest firmware (20.x), switching off Dual Mode, curing the batteries (I have three - the original Nokia and two generic) and remembering to quit applications, Bluetooth and WLAN scanning - I was managing to get almost 48 hours from a single charge including a reasonable amount of daily usage.

However, I had a spree of installing applications and suddenly I don't even get 12 hours with no phone usage at all!

I've deleted all the applications I suspected - and which were running in the background - one at a time; Phone Guardian, NokMote, RotateMe and I've finally just deleted cClock. I can't think what else might have caused this to happen. It is unlikely that all three batteries have failed simultaneously.

Has anybody any ideas?

I'd try a normal reset first.... *#7780# (I think that works on the N95)

Other than that, it may need a full format to sort it out....

Thanks for the tip, Steve.

I'm just on my last test run (i.e. since deleting cClock) and if that doesn't make any difference I'll take a deep breath and try *#7780# - any kind of reset makes me a bit nervous...

7780 'should' just reset the settings to default, and not touch the data. Might be best to do a backup and sync first though

Just ignore me if I'm stating the obvious...

Is your bluetooth on?
Is your gps running in the background?
Do you gave one of those accelerometer aps running in the background?

I know that I installed a program that automatically started up other programs whenever the phone was switched on... and a fully charged battery would go dead in 9 hours. I deleted that app pretty quick...

Thanks for all the ideas.

As I said in the OP, I did check for obvious stuff like Bluetooth, WLAN, Dual Mode etc.

I'm sad to say that the culprit seems to have been cClock as deleting it has doubled my battery life overnight - despite having it configured as energy efficiently as possible.

Shame, I really liked cClock but it ain't worth having my phone conk out after half a day.
