Sorry to hear that, something makes me think that vets should only be paid if the cat survives, if it doesnt then only pay half or something.

I'm so sorry to read this Bart! I know what it's like and how it feels. Rest assured that you did the right thing. He's not suffering anymore.
Now, you gotta do the right thing and get straight back in the saddle - start looking for another cat!

Thanks everyone, Im not lying when I say reading the replies helps. It was really really hard, because I had to decide it, and even though I knew it was the right decision, it still felt wrong that I should decide if he lives or dies. Stayed with him though.
I still have his brother (who now doesn't leave my side), but in future Im not sure about another pet. Barring an accident, you will always outlast them. Still, at some point I may decide to get rescue cats, that way even if they do die soon at least I know I would have done some good.
Ah well, now got to see what happens about the £400 that I wasnt told about.

Really sorry to hear that Bart. Personally I think you made a hard but ultimately the right decision. Losing a pet is bad enough, but seeing one suffer is even worse IMHO.
Thank you for the information mate.

I agree with Logan. Also - a rescue cat is a really good idea. No matter how long you have the cat, it will have a much better quality of life with a caring guy like you, than it would have otherwise. Just has to be good allround.
Take care,
s.
