Moggies

Starting this because it was my fault the other had gone offtopic, Im hoping people read this and see the answers.

About your cats vomiting. Yes, its normal that they eat grass, and probably normal with them vomiting every so often. Dont worry about it too much, but simply ring up the vet and ask. Its really worth doing, even if to put your mind at ease.

How much better would you feel if the vet said thats perfectly normal?

Torsen, David C and Geoffers

Dry food isnt neccesscerily bad, but Im told it does give quite a few cats the same condition mine has.

Cats can often get a problem where a urine infection can cause crystals or stones to develop along the tract. This can block the urine, and be incredibly painful. And eventually cause kidney failure, as they cant wee.

Its more difficult to know if the cat goes outside, but things to watch out for are the cat being restless, weeing where it shouldnt, weeing often and in little or not amounts, and blood in the urine. If that happens, take it to a vet pronto.

In my case, I got back from work and he could hardly walk, and was in obvious pain. He collapsed in the box halfway there, and I thought he was a goner.

£900 later, its still unknown if he has to be put down, as they have found stones in the pelvis area where they cannot operate, and if they cannot be broken down, he will be put to sleep. A cat simply cannot live with a catheter in it for the rest of its life.

So if in doubt, consult a vet. Might save you lots of money, but more importantly, it might save its life, or at the least a lot of suffering. I love my cats a lot, and its really not nice to see them go through it.

Thanks for replying, I'll keep it in mind and an eye on their toilet habits.

Hope you don't lose your cat.

Cheers G. I was actually wondering if it would be cheaper to plate the cat in gold....

He was put to sleep today just before 10. He was urinating earlier in the night, but from 5.30 onwards he wasnt at all, and he was in obvious distress. Rather than having another large operation, I decided to put him to sleep.
