Pulled the trigger - got HTC Touch Pro
Well, I finally caved into my desire for a higher-resolution screen to better meet my productivity needs and purchased the HTC Touch Pro (review just up at GSMarena.com). Should arrive early next week - will be interesting to see how it goes being WinMo and all. I hear terrible things about WinMo, but honestly the degree of scope for customisation appeals, and it looks as if Touch Flo helps ease the burden of a shonky OS.
Don't worry, I'm still a Symbian fan, and my N82 will be my evening/weekends phone - for the present time I can't really have it all in one handset though - hence the Touch Pro for productivity.
Although its not a symbian handset, most here are interested in mobile technology in general, so I wondered whether you guys want a review after I've had a little time with the device?

Sure thing - of course there will be plenty of pictures taken by my evening/weekend "fun" phone (my beloved N82).

Why didn't you go for the experia x1 instead?
Hi, I can very much identify with your reasons for making such a switch.
However i thought that you like me would of got the Experia x1 instead.
After all you wouldn't of needed to mess about with audio adaptors if you got the Experia seeing as it uses a standard 3.5" headphone audio jack.
The camera seems much superior also(recording video at 30FPS like the N95).

Dude! Been there, I have the T-Shirt.
I had a HTC Touch for a week at work, couldn't pack it up and send it back fast enough. Utter rubbish! Slow interface mainly and that fact that the UI is just so poor compared to Symbian.
I had a qtec 9090 a few years back and to be honest, nothing has really changed or improved over that, considering WM is several versions on. In fact, it wasn't really much better than the old iPaq!
And as for that touch-flow thing, eye candy, not practicle.

HTC Touch Pro is a wee bit better than the Touch I'm afraid, so we'll see how it stacks up. Looks the performance can be improved considerably with custom ROMs and registry tweaks etc. Shame it can't come like that out of the box, but then my Symbian handsets haven't been ideal out of the box either so I can forgive that (plus I just like all the tooling around with the OS and making stuff work). In any case, I got it like $400 cheaper than anyone is selling it for here, so if after a couple of weeks I really don't like it then I'll just sell it - probably at a profit at that...
Regarding the Xperia - I'll probably be buying that and the Tube before Christmas so its not a matter of either/or.

Really?! I must have had a dud! I mean, it looks nice for a few minutes but try living with it for a week.
I found it soooo slow, my callers would get to voicemail before the phone even rang. And I found the interface very clumsy. Trying to find contacts etc.. Maybe it was the Vodafone branding that ruined it. Either way, I sent it back sharpish and swapped it for a lovely E51.
Hope you have more joy with your Pro though mate, sincerely ;)
