you know i havent even read that blog, simply because there is no comparison between the 2 devices, im not gonna waste my time.

golfnut previously stated

"so the iphone cant:
take video,
send mms,
take decent photos,
up load these to the net,
have a real internet experience,
take the battery out,
bluetooth any files to your pc"

which is a very quick peek at some reasons the n95 is superior, yet he doesnt write a long blog, because it isnt needed, like i say there is no comparison.

and i agree with the general views here, about the marketing side of it. i mean look at ipods themselves, personally i'd go for an archos (and am going to once my room is finished..) because its simply better, but still more people get ipods.... maybe one day people will learn

I don't know Scoble from any other blogerbator but I wanted to say this...

I was curious to read what Scoble said about the n95 to begin with, so I went back and read it. It was quite interesting.
First, he was complimentary about the n95, but careful to constantly withold any real analysis in order to wait for the iphone - which he admitted, he was already buying two of.
While mentioning features like GPS, he never once indicated that he had even tested them out. He admitted later to not using geo-encoding, so he has no idea of some of the capabilities of the n95. On top of that, the man didn't mention a single piece of software written for the n95... out of the 1200 already on the market ... so once again, he clearly remains entirely ignorant of the capablities of the machine. He writes of GPS as not being a "must have" (apparently, on the ipphone, a must have is a crappy camera) despite the fact that it is a remarkable achievement... and the shape of things to come.

No, he ends up rating the iphone higher for:

A better "picture taking experience". What exactly does that mean? It means quite simply, you can take lousy pictures using a pretty device. Thats precisely the same, logically speaking, as me telling you that my old 1.2 megapixel sony cybershot is really better than your Nikon D200 12.0 mpixel camera... because mine has fewer buttons and controls and is thus easier to use.

He further backs this argument (ad absurdum) by saying if you want a camera, get a real camera.

But I thought the whole idea of the iphone was it was being touted as a multipurpose convergent device? Now when someone points out how lousy their camera is, the fanboys argue "Well, you should be carrying a real camera around anyway!"

Thats just... just ... dyslogical!

And you should also apparently, be carrying around a separate GPS device... a separate device to do MMS ... maybe a separate alarm clock... wrist watch?

I don't mind people prefering one device over another - for function, feel, style... whatever.

I mind it when they make utterly retarded arguments in their defense, that's all.

BY RONMEXICO777 AT 05:29 PM 9:37am: 15+ hours after writing fanboy-esque post favorably comparing iPhone to a Nokia device, a self-declared troll calls Scoble a moron.
9:43am: Scoble responds, asking the commenter if they work for Nokia or are otherwise threatened professionally by the iPhone, because, after all, if somebody disagrees with Scoble, they must be a paid shill. (Insert your own joke about "takes one to know one", etc)
10:05am : Scoble writes a post complaining about all the "Nokia trolls", comparing them to a pair of 14-year-old boys who set themselves up for a Valleywag internship by hassling him and Dave Whiner in the iPhone line.
I'm really at a loss here. What's more amusing, the fact that a couple of teenage punks were able to unsettle Scoble and Whiner so badly (probably dragging up some repressed memories), or that Scoble's apparently up there with Michael Arrington in the thin-skinned stakes?
Fun little recap of last night's (or morning, depending upon where you're at) events from a commenter at ValleyWag.

Well, that's done it. Now he's against free speech as well. He's just gone and removed my post, over at this page: Nokia users hate me… « Scobleizer. I said nothing defamatory. since he accused Pseudofinn of sending me over to call him a moron, which is true in the fact that of course Pseudo didn't send me, but I did indeed call him a moron, I reiterated that fact, amongst others. Mostly my point was he shouldn't lie to his readership and succumb to the iPhone hype so much that he ill-advises thousands of people, he forgot to point out the areas where the iPhone is inferior, so as to educate his readership and allow them to make an informed decision, not one that is based on a bunch of baloney. I even told him how I have his blog on my RSS feed, and I actually like and agree with some of things he says, just not this. My post was objective, not offensive.

I said his title of 'technology evangelist' is undeserved. That's an opinion, not an insult.

But guess what, superblogger didn't like it, so he broke Blog Rule Number 1: Never remove a post that contains an opinion you don't agree with. So he just wasted my time. I have to write this because I can't even link you to what I said. Maybe he'll read this and then put my post back up just to annoy me. Well go ahead, Robert. It wouldn't surprise me.

Scoble.

The whole N95 and iPhone comparison IS flawed.

You'd really need to compare MDA/XDA/HTC/Qtek devices running WM5 with iphone.

Even then, the iPhone still wont hold any WOW factor as it's all been done before. Its the Vista vs Apple OS saga again "widgets v gadgets" etc etc

We all know there is no comparison between the iphone (a 2G phone) and a N95 (3.5G phone), and the iphone can't even do half of the N95 functions. That's why I read CNet's reviews with amusement...they have apparently given a higher rating of 8 for the iphone to the N95 (which is only a 7)...how ridiculous is that? Who are they trying to kid?
