Talking irish networks for data use

hi guys. im lookingfor people on irish networks or anyone who can give some advise. im getting the n95 very soon. im trying to figure out what network to use it on. one thing im mainly unsure about is the data use. some networks offer 1meg n for the same price some offer 5 gig! i assume the 5 gig is only if your going to download through their network where as 1 meg is net surfing? with broadband at home iv no need for downloading on the phone so the 1 meg would serve me loads for surfing?
plus i assume i can check nearly any web site n not just the ones the network says it can?
any help will be great cheers. M

I am Irish and I have reviewed this area quite extensively.

Vodafone offer the following:

GPRS/3G price plans - Vodafone Ireland

Phone as a Modem Bundles

These bundles are best suited to using your 3G phone as a modem with medium to moderate levels of usage

Type of User Bundle Size Price per month* Price per MB outside of bundle

Modest 15MB €10 €2.50
Medium 25MB €15 €2.00

N.B. Without a Databundle it costs 2c per Kb for the first MB and 5c thereafter.

Price of Modem Bundles are Vat Inclusive.

This is not to be confused with this which gives yous a mobile broadband USB Modem and is of no use with your N95

Vodafone 3G Broadband

Email, Web Access, and access to your office network. So whenever you have a moment to spare, you can be getting more done on the move.

Monthly Fee Modem Price Monthly download limit Out of Bundle Charge
€33.05 €81.81 5GB €0.10 per MB

Prices are quoted Ex Vat.

Bear in mind that some websites of the non mobile type can be as much as a MB a page (This one is quite hefty in fact) so this represents extremely poor value for money, what I find particularly galling is that the USB Modem package cannot be added to my existing contract with my N95, since it does exactly what my N95 does :p and that I must be forced to pay extortionate data costs instead.

3 Offer the best service but it is limited to http only so no VOIP, Torrents, ftp etc etc

3 Ireland

Mobile surfing,
anywhere, anytime 100Mb Mobile surfing, €5.99
anywhere, anytime 250Mb Mobile surfing, €9.99
anywhere, anytime Unlimited €19.99

Tbh it just plain sucks in Ireland atm

read my rant about it here

The N95 wont work with Three. Only Three issued phones work, and there will never be an N95 on Three - they've made that clear many times.

No N95 for Ireland or UK though.

See for yourself
3 Ireland
3 Mobile Store - Handsets

Also here, unless you have a Three/3 branded phone, it wont work on their network. So no N95 three variant = not able to use with Three.

Well, I must be imagining the fact I've been using one for months then. Bought sim-free from Carphone Warehouse on Grafton St, put in 3 sim, all settings for internet etc preloaded on sim. 3.5G in most areas. Tis sweet.
