Barred Phones?

About 6 months ago i lost my 8800 so claimed a new one off the insurance, anyway last week it was found over in my girlfriends house during a clear out of the garage. I tried it and it powers on etc but it seems to be barred by the networks over here in Ireland. Am i right in saying though that the phone will work on other networks out side the country like in the UK & rest of Europe etc?

well in england blocked phones will work outside the UK...

so it might work outside the uk.

Nope, if you turned it on then the phone has been locked out and will now not work on any network.

Thieves turn them off straight away, and do not turn them on, then sell them abroad.
