A really random concept

Hi all,

I had to tell someone about this crazy idea I had. Put your N95 on your desk face up with the top edge facing away from you... now put your hand on it...

You probably won't get what I'm trying to get at here from that description, so i'll explain: wouldn't it be cool if someone programmed a piece of software for the N95 that let you use it as a bluetooth mouse?! The camera could be used as an optical sensor of sorts, the multimedia key could be left click, the main menu key right click, the selection button middle click, and the arrows a 4-way scroll.

Never gonna happen though, but just a random idea.

lmao, I think I have actually lost it today to be honest! It's been a long day... but still... someone might find it fascinating... *crosses fingers that someone else has forgot to take their medication too* XD.

I'm not sure how well it would work, as there's no light for the optical sensor to sense the optics when you have the lens pressed against the tabletop.

Besides, it's what computers have become, not mice. Silly.

There used to be an app like that.

I downloaded an old s60 app that turns your mobile into a BT mouse/remote. The mouse functionality sucks due to the phone's (7610) low end cam. You'd have to hover/pan your mobile to the desired direction to move the desktop cursor. The BT remote functions great. I spooked my officemate by remotely opening my Winamp and played 'Mad World' tune of DOnnie Darko in full volume! hehehe... I'll post you the link if I find the app again. I hope they remake the app for the n95. The mouse function will be better due to the higher spec cam.

It'll be a fun app if you want to fool around, you don't wanna scratch your N95 right? =D

If not the mouse function using the camera, at least using the d-pad and media keys for left/right click. My old SE w800i had bluetooth remote capabilities built in for powerpoint, media player and desktop usage. I would also like to see something like this for n95

This sounds cool... I also hope they re-release that app!

Also, about the input being dark from the camera when it's on a surface... that's why it has a flash isn't it ?

Yeah, I'm just itching to scratch up the back of my handset.

And lets not forget the people queuing round the corner to get the US version without a lens cover!

For desktop control, try controlfreak from MTVoid or VNC. I think Bemused might also have desktop control- and it's free.
