Is it possible the current (Old) N95 works on 3G frequency in Canada?
Just thought I would throw this out there. I was in Toronto, Canada and I used a FIDO SIM card. Whenever I was using TruPhone, I had the option to use the FIDO 3G service as an access point. This was perhaps an indication that the old N95 works with FIDO's 3G service. So I would assume their 3G runs on different frequency than the one's in the US..hence the new US 3G N95.
Back here in the USA, with my Cingular SIM card, I don't even see their Data Access point available to use for Truphone.
Now, only if you could get unlimited data plans in Canada. (FIDO and Rogers don't offer that)

No, it doesn't make sense! As far as I am know- Rogers operates on the same frequency as AT&T...
So maybe the title of this thread needs to be changed, so that it presents itself as a question, not a statement. I am not a fan of misinformation! Let's confirm this, or modify the title of this thread, please.

Both rogers and fido (same company really since Rogers bought out Microcell) use the Sierra 860 card for HSDPA in the lower Ontario area (The only real area that has HSDPA in Canada right now). The card itself is quadband EDGE/GPRS but is only 850/1900 HSDPA (non-UTMS).
What Fido has probably done is setup a separate gateway on their network to divide 3G and EDGE/GPRS traffic to be able to track and bill data usage on different plans and rates on their network as this would be a quick and dirty solution to them specifically tagging and differentiating 3.5G from non-3.5G traffic in the same network.
This is just conjecture but I do work in the industry in Canada and this would be a plausible explanation for having a different gateway that is labeled "3G".

I am just posting what I saw on my phone...When using Truphone I had the option to use the FIDO 3G access point. I did not confirm this by using the Internet over their data service.

Sorry, didn't mean to sound so abrasive. I was mostly refering to the title of the thread- it's a bummer to run across something like this with such a title that sounds like it's stating fact, only to open it up and read conjecture and hearsay. You should add "Might" or a question mark at the end of the title... you dig?
