Lol- yeah, I've got an N800. I'm not all that ripped up about this. I love my N800. The N810 is super hot. I'd love one, but right now I'm happy with the fact that the OS2008 is going to be available to me on my Tablet, and I'll finally be able to use both the
N95 and N800 with my Jabra BT headset (it supports two devices simultaneously)... I'll have fluid youtube, faster processing speed and everything else.
What I won't have is significantly smaller package, a built in GPS and what looks like a VERY nice qwerty slider. That makes me want one, and badly, but I wouldn't say that makes me feel like a beta tester with my N800. I've been hearing about and reading about and waiting for the next tablet for a while now. The N810 is just the next step in the Internet Tablet.
Bill Plummer, the VP of Nokia Multimedia in North America, put it like this- the 770 was for uber-geeks. Then there was the N800, which was for geeks. The N810 is a device that is that much closer to a mainstream product. It's still not there yet- for many reasons, one of which sp00k mentioned- it is a Linux device, for whatever that means to you, good or bad. But by adding the qwerty keyboard, the GPS and an updated OS with many more features- they're reaching out to a broader customer with every iteration of the device.
Nokia is continually learning from the Linux community and all the Nokia forums and blogs around the globe, and they are addressing concerns and suggestions- and they keep developing the device. I kinda like being a part of that, however small it is. I believe in the concept of the Internet Tablet now, and I'm excited to see what they do next.
