Useful Tips
A Few Things That You Probably Didn’t Know Your
Mobile Phone Could Do!
Emergency:- The emergency number worldwide for mobile phones is 112. If you find yourself outside the coverage area of your mobile network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search all existing networks to establish the emergency number for you, and this number can be dialled even if the keypad is locked.
Locked out of your car?:- If our car has a remote keyless entry system and you have locked your keys in the car and your spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their mobile phone from yours. Hold your mobile about a foot from your car door and have the person at home press the unlock button while holding it near their mobile phone at their end. The car will then unlock.
Battery Power:- If your battery in your mobile is very low. Press *3370# and your mobile will restart. This hidden reserve will show a 50% increase in battery life. This reserve will automatically recharge when you charge your mobile normally next time.
Theft:- Your mobile phone’s serial number can be found by dialling *#06#. A fifteen digit code will appear. Write it down and notify your service provider if your phone is stolen or lost. They will then be able to block the phone even the thief changes the SIM card, thus making the phone totally useless. (You probably won’t get your phone back but at least you know that whoever stole/found it cannot use/sell it either. If everyone did this there would not be much point in stealing the phone in the first place!)
In Case of Emergency:- In your ‘call’ list put someone’s name and number who you would wish to be contacted in an emergency under the heading of ICE ( In Case of Emergency). This is internationally known and can save a great deal of time both for yourself and the emergency services.
Should you be aware of any other useful hints then please share them.

Not sure how reliable these tips floating about are... The thing about car locking simply isn't true! And, well, you can stop operation of your phone without the IMEI. Your phone'd still be nicked :D

yeah the keyless entry one is just pure bogus. The 112 works when locked and I'm pretty sure it does as stated, I'll look up and verify. I've heard the ICE one to but HOME or PARENTS work well also

+) Calling 112 on your cell phone <#> will (in some parts of the world, primarily Europe) connect you to local emergency services, even if you are outside your provider's service area (i.e., even if you are not authorized to relay signals through the cell tower <#> that handles your call), and many cell phones allow the user to place 112 calls even if the phone lacks a SIM card <#> or its keypad is locked. However, the 112 number does not have (as is sometimes claimed) special properties that enable callers to use it in areas where all cellular <#> signals are blocked (or otherwise unavailable).
+) Cars with remote keyless entry (RKE) systems cannot be unlocked by relaying a key fob transmitter signal via a cellular telephone. RKE systems and cell phones utilize different types of signals and transmit them at different frequencies. Relaying remote entry system signals via telephone might work if the signals were sound-based, but they're not. An RKE system transmits an encrypted data stream to a receiver inside the automobile via an RF (radio frequency) signal, a signal that can't be effectively relayed via cell phone. (In any event, RKE systems and cell phones typically operate on completely different frequencies; the former in the 300 MHz range and the latter in the 800 MHz range.). It's possible this method might work with cars that use something different than standard RKE systems, but it might not work with the vast majority of models.
+) The claim that pressing the sequence *3370# will unleash "hidden battery power" in a cell phone seems to be a misunderstanding of an option available on some brands of cell phone (such as Nokia) for Half Rate Codec, which provides about 30% more talk time on a battery charge at the expense of lower sound quality. However, this option is enabled by pressing the sequence *#4720# -- the sequence *3370# actually enables Enhanced Full Rate Codec, which provides better sound quality at the expense of shorter battery life.
+) Entering the sequence *#06# into a cell phone may display a 15-digit identification string, but that function only works with some types of cell phones, and the efficacy of reporting the ID number to a cellular service provider to head off unauthorized use of a lost or stolen phone is limited.

Yeah, this has to be the most annoying feature! Keylock, by definition, should lock the keypad to stop you accidentally dialling numbers, especially the emergency services! AFAIK, the emergency services in the UK can't disconnect a call, you have to hangup.
But it does work on any network. I've experienced this personally in a known Vodafone blackspot, to my great relief!
Shame about the car one. I'm going to try it anyway. Love stuff like that, like touching the key to your head increases the range! LMAO... YouTube - Top Gear: Central Locking Range Which DOES work!
