Strangley, when I recently had trouble accessing the 'net by wap (is that the right name?) I called in to O2 CC. They asked me what firmware I was on.
Ahhhh, quandry! I finally said "Version 20". They said "OK, we were going to tell you to upgrade to version 20". I didn't pursue that with them!
As it happens I had an old 10 year old sim so they sent me a new one. That fixed it.
Point is though, O2 were plainly going to tell me to upgrade to version 20!

TBH I do not have any first hand experience. Others have said they do not like it, and I just took that as fact. I stand by my statement, voiding that warranty would still be worth it, just fortunate it appears not to be a problem.

Debranding your phone on O2 does not void your warranty as long as you switched back to the orginal code. My N95 broke down after being debranded. O2 have sent it to nokia to be fixed but it didn't solve the problem so next week thay have sent it to nokia again asking for replacement. Now I have brand new n95 :D

Yep, change your product code back and the debranding should make no difference. Most people have said they've successfully returned their devices with no questions asked.
Not sure about lifeblog though as I never used it in the first place Try uninstalling and seeing if theres a newer version you can get?
A lot of apps stop working after a firmware update and require a reinstall.

If your Handset goes to a service centre with the wrong product code or higher software than the factory product code allowed it will not be repaired or replaced under warranty as it is against the warranty conditions !
As a foot note it has been noticed that NSU allows consumers to upgrade to a higher software than is sometimes allowed by Nokia and it's service centres !
This has caused issues when a NSU update fails and the service centre cannot flash it as it will be rejected at higher level repair for having invalid software even though NSU allowed the customer to upgrade through their own systems !

So are you saying, Gaz... that if, for example, I have an O2-supplied handset that came with O2-specific firmware installed, if I de-brand it, in other words install EURO-1 generic firmware for example, that dates later than the original O2 firmware, even though the handset has Nokia generic firmware installed, technically this voids my warranty?
What if I alter my Product Code back to the original one? Can the NSC tell that it's been altered & reset? without running the phone to check the software installed? I would imagine that this would be difficult if I'd managed to 'brick' it during the upgrade process!
N.B. You don't have to answer! ;)

If you put generic software on your "branded" handset regardless of date it technically voids the warranty .
If you were to return the software (and the product code) to original then it would be very *read nearly impossible*difficult for a NCSC to determine this had been done unless it was done on NSU in which case it would be easy to see the update records.
I cannot comment on whether higher level repair would be able to detect these changes easier should the device fail to flash at the NCSC and need to be sent up the chain
