I doubt many service centres would want to do them for free ;)

Interesting, O2 have, on several occasions including this morning, asked if I know how to flash the phone. When I say yes they actually asked if I wished to do this. I declined this morning as I already have v21 FW on the phone, but they told me the warranty is still in effect. Who is telling the truth?
O2 are pretty strange with how they handle defective units though, sometimes they wish you to take it somewhere, other times they simply post a new one out to me.
One of the bods at O2 even went as far as to tell me what product code to use, generic Euro code for my phone, as they were encouraging the capable users to upgrade the FW.
I have returned a bricked phone, amongst others, and they have always been repaired with no issues or any charges.
:edit: thinking back a bit further, I have had a Nokia come back from a service centre with a generic code and newest FW, despite it being branded with an older FW before it went in for repairs. I will check my wifes phone, that recently went in for repairs, and that was standard and branded etc.. to start with. Has a standard O2 product code too.
:edit v2: the wifes phone is now V20 FW, it was not before. Also now has a generic product code. I guess O2 have no problems with these things being done after all.
