Who is on O2 and running v20 firmware?

I'm a bit dubious about all this debranding, I'm wondering who has done it and what effects has it had on your N95 - good and bad??

Mark

I debranded. I'm running v20. I've got no problems.

Only real problem you might have is that 02 won't touch the phone if its been debranded. So you can almost forget sending the phone back to them for repair etc.

I did it - it was easy (and I am a "thicky") so long as you follow the instructions given on this forum it works perfectly and gives you a sense of "real acheivement" when its done.
Have patience when the PC Suite is doing its job to your phone - just sit back and wait for it to be completed.
Its great.

So was it worth it? Or do you see no change from v12?

Thanks again!

VERY worth it. The amount of free ram is the most notable change. No more memory issues while browsing etc.

I've done it too. Piece of cake!
Best benefit to me is the increase in battery life!

I debranded by v11 O2 N95 and have since flashed it to v12, then v20.

No problems at all and it's a better machine now.

Plenty of guides available on the forum now, I used this guide at the time. Nokia Debranding: Nokia N95 Debranding Guide

V20 is excellent. When I went from 11 to 12 I did not really notice much, apart from the fact 12 introduced a really irritating bug where it would miss button presses.

V20 cured this, as well as increased available RAM, won't bore you with the details, better performance and improvements to battery life.

Only real word of advice is to read what you have to do before you do it, get it clear in your head. Also, as others have stated, be patient. It can take a while and your phone might look like it has crapped out, just leave it for a while.

I was on O2 FW and had no issues whatsoever with debranding and flashing it.

On a personal note, losing the ability to return the phone to O2 is a small price to pay to get the phone working as it should be. If worst comes to the worst and O2 will not take it back, you still have Nokia to turn to.

I would have sent my phone back if it was still on V11 (see my early posts for my 2 year old baby style tantrum... ) V12 was a huge improvement for me on the stability and Bluetooth front.

I think this is a bit of an urban legend now, up there with the tales of stolen kidneys and baths of ice... The carriers don't seem to check, from what I understand and warrenties seem to remain intact...
