I had a problem updating the firmware on a Vodafone branded
N95 I bought last week and it needed a reflash to get it working again.
I bought the phone so I could get Vodafone's MusicStation service. As the
N95 I had before was an unlocked T-mobile handset, I was unable to install because it requires Vodafone's certificates on the phone. Because I had the reflash it removed said certificates, so once again I was unable to install.
I phoned 191 and talked to someone and we tried to sort the problem out, though I didn't think they understood the problem and as they were putting me on hold to talk to somebody else (who was part of MusicStation support), the call was dragging out a bit.
I was eventually put direct through to MusicStation support who told me that because my phone didn't have the certificates, I couldn't get the app. I explained the
N95 was a vodafone branded handset and I had to have the phone reflashed and she said she'd see if she couldn't get me an exchange handset. I thought 'no chance, it's not the phone my contract's linked to', but when she came back she explained that the IMEI number I was calling from was a Vodafone
N95 (I never even had to give her it, they knew from the SIM card information that was coming up!!) and they'd be sending me a handset out in the morning!!!!!
Vodafone Customer Sevices have gone up an awful lot in my book(not that I'd ever had a problem with them in 3 years),there was nothing stopping them telling me I wouldn't be able to install the service, but they went quite a bit further to make me one VERY happy customer!!
