Unlimited Web Bolt On

The deal clincher when taking out an 18 month contract with O2 was the unlimited web bolt on. I later discovered that 'unlimited' actually meant 200mb which I don't think is enough as I use the internet a lot for posting images to the web, etc... I've recently read that O2 have backed down from the fair usage policy but only for iPhone users, does anybody know if this will be rolled out to users of N95's or are we second-rate O2 citizens. The funny thing is the quote from O2 CEO Matthew Key: ”customers find ‘unlimited with limits’ confusing.” He, the CEO, admits it is confusing, so why advertise the bolt on as 'unlimited'? I'd be quite happy with 1gb but even then it should be advertised as 1gb, not 'unlimited'! I hope O2 have backed down on this but I haven't heard anything recently.

No, it wont be rolled out to others. Dont forget the iphone doesnt have 3G, so in practice they cannot download anything like what 3G phones can. Hence them getting unlimited, thats nothing to do with O2 being nice to customers.

The UK is in desperate need of banishment of the 'unlimited' term ISPs and phone network providers use. Currently, they are allowed to get away with it, thanks to OFCOM.

If anyone from OFCOM (or O2) is reading this, your crap.

I know all the networks use the term "unlimited", it would be nice to see at least one carrier make a stand and scrap the deliberately misleading term. I'm sure they would earn a lot more respect in the long run, but I think short-term sales are what drives them, not long-term customer trust. I think 1 gigabyte is more than enough and if advertised as such would sell alot of phones.... regretfully not as many as if advertised as 'unlimited'. Oh well....

Must say o2 offer unlimited texts, and unlimited calls to o2 phones on my contract and when the bill comes it doesn't have a limit, so they are unlimited.

I also got the bolt on but they never called it unlimited to me, I knew it had a 200mb when i got it. Have they got a new bolt on or were you just mis-led.

I was definitely misled, the guy sold it to me by showing me a page in an O2 magazine that explains about the unlimited web bolt on, the word 'unlimited' didnt even have an asterisk next to it! I got hold of a copy of the magazine to check and it's all hidden in the terms and conditions on on the back pages (200mb fair usage). I would probably still have purchased the phone but would prefer people to be honest about what they're selling. Just say 200mb web bolt on, cheers, I'll take it, thanks.

Hmm...the unlimited data plan was also a deal clincher for me too - it even says 'unlimited' on my receipt - although i fully understood that it only applied to web browsing and NOT downloads...you still get charged £3.00 per meg for those.
Nice to see that O2 are repaying customer loyalty by giving existing customers the shaft - i guess it's off to O2 tomorrow then to get verification on this.
May have to rethink buying out of my contract earlier than planned if the data capping turns out to be legit...
