Does nokia maps, voice guidance and A-GPS work over the Etisalat connection in UAE?
hi,
I am planning to buy a n95, but wanted to know if nokia maps with voice guidance is available to use in the UAE? Also, does A-GPS work over the Etisalat connection? Would it require any special settings/plans with Etisalat? How much would it cost?

I have been using Nokia maps in UAE for the past 10 months now and they work perfectly fine. I usually download Maps via Nokia MapLoader to save on the download costs, and had tried the voice navigation for the free trial period of 3 days. It seemed to work fine. You do not need any special package with Etisalat to use Nokia Maps, and default charges (Pay as you go) of 1 fil/kb of bandwidth usage apply when you use 3G. However, if you are a heavy user I suggest you could go for one of the data packages according to your needs.
On the downside, voice navigation goes crazy in Dubai with the changes on routes occurring almost overnight. It would ask you to enter a round about where none exists anymore. And sometimes it would show you as driving in the middle of desert or on the creek while you are driving at perfectly paved 6 lane a side road.

That's right, things are changing so fast in Dubai that no GPS maps are up to date.
