Cingular

Brand new to this forum and I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions on setting up N95 for Cingular(AT&T) ? I just got my phone yesterday and I am trying to set it up to access everything my Razr Vx33 was set up for. Specifically, Cingular video, Yahoo and Gmail accounts. Also I subscribed to Smart2go for maps and voice direction for my N80ie and wanted to transfer to N95, any suggestions?

Thanks
JGB

I am on Cingular as well. Can you be more specific?? I know that the config info from Nokia isn't correct and that the one you want is
Connnection name =Medianet
Data Bearer = Packet Data
Access Point name = wap.cingular
Username = WAP@CINGULARGPRS.COM

I have those settings adjusted...ty. I still don't see a 3g indicator during data transfer..do you see 3g on your N95 ? I was just wondering if I am receiving @ 3g speed or not. I also had a CV button on my Razr Vx33 that connected directly to Cingular video which had CNN and Espn clips...very cool. I have not been able to find the web address for that site.

Thanks
JGB

if you're in the US what you will see is the letter "E" instead of a 3 (I think). But only in major cities..

I would recommend unlimited data plan(about 20$). That is what I have...only includes 200 text messages so check that if you need more. I am still trying to fiqure out how to get some of the signature services for the 3g pack..I will post when I fiqure it out.

Cingular

Hi folks, I am new to the forum. My Cingular issued V3 blew up (I used one of those canned air thingies to clean my Razr and it no longer permitted me to make calls). So when I visited Malaysia, I decided to spring for a N95.

Back here in the US now, I get only E (for EDGE) from Cingular's MediaNET. I too signed up for the MediaMax ($19.95) package.

So far so good. Only thing is if the EDGE signal is not good and when I ma surfing using the N95, it reboots sometimes. Pretty lousy behavior.

I am of course seeing it reboot when it is 'stuck' in some processing, like the Gallery.

All in all the N95 needs a firmware upgrade really bad.

You won't get 3G. N95 uses a data frequency that is not compatible with 3G in North America. Only in Europe/asia. Edge is the highest you'll get.

Waxer is correct. That's what the "E" is. EGPRS... some call it 2.5 or 2.75G.

It's getting pretty widespread now, availible well outside the major cities in some areas.
