Vodaphone UK, N95 8GB Firmware Update
Hi,
Would like to upgrade my N95 8GB to latest Vodaphone firmware, anyone know which version this is, and can i do it thru the Nokia PC suite?
If i upgrade the firmware will it wipe just the phone memory, or memory card (8GB) as well?
If its just the phone memory, i can back up phone memory to memory card, but think i'll backup to PC as well, any help would be great,
Still finding my feet with this phone,
Cheers

Your best bet is to spend some time, searching the forums to reveal other members experiences, tips, and advice that they give when carrying out the same task as you plan, as this has been covered several times within the forums.
There's some great advice here within, from organising your backed up files in folders on your PC, to reformatting your device prior to firmware upgrade.
As to whats the latest firmware version for Vodafone, I believe its V20. To check yourself, go to the link below, and enter your N95's product code...
Nokia Europe - Device software update - Support
Click on "Can I Update", and then enter your product code.

V20 is indeed the latest
upgrading the firmware will only delete the phone memory and not the mass memory

Thanks Guys,
upgraded yesterday, all went well, backed up to both phone and PC, upgrade bigger download than expected, 114MB, only needed to restore from phone, what a handy way to backup!
Thanks again, trying to find out how to install themes and apps, but they need to be signed?
any advice or ideas please?

Some of the applications do need signing, but the majority do not. If you get an error when you try and put applications on your phone it's either because it's unsigned (you'll get a message saying 'Certificate Error, please contact the supplier') or you don't have your phone set to install all applications. This is very easy to fix, look in the tips section for help about signing applications or if your phones not set for all, go Menu>Application Manager>Options>Settings and set Software application to all.
Themes do not need to signed, so will run happily on your phone. For best results, run all apps and themes from your phone memory-it can slow your phone down if you don't!
