newbie questions

I'm ready to purchase a N95 8GB, but I'm still not sure which US carrier and how to do it?

Here are my questions:
1. I'm in North East US, ATT or T-Mobile?
2. Do I need to buy a Sim Card?
3. I don't want to tie down by contract, if I get the prepaid plan (from either ATT or TM), I can still get the data plan for internet access, right?
4. ahhh, what are the steps? Do I buy the Phone, then walk into the store and say I want to buy your prepaid service using my unlocked phone?

1. You can use either one.
2. You will be provided with a new sim card or you can use your old one.
3. Tmobile doesn't have internet plans on prepaid so ask the service providers first.
4. You can buy an unlocked phone and use either provider. Make sure it's unlocked so you can use any sim card. If you go for at&t get the n95-3 or -4 to get their 3g..
