Hi guys,in regards to the o2 web bolt on it states that this is for "browsing".Does that mean you get charged for any downloads mp3's etc.Im guessing a good few of you will have this bolt on and would appreciate any info

Hi there, I have the web bolt on and have never been charged for dowloading anything with O2. I just keep an eye on the amount I've downloaded and reset all my counters on the day my bill is produced.

hi mate ive had the web bolt on for quite a bit now ive downloaded loads with it over the time ie ngage games , mp3s , games , applications etc etc
as long as the download is a free one you will be ok
last month i used 249mb , o2s fair usage policy says 200mb , 1 lady said i would be cahrged 3 pound per megabyte after that , when i asked the lady if she could check with a manger for me wether i should expect a phone bill for 3x 49 roughly 150 pounds for 49mb of data usage she came back and said because it was advertised as unlimited i was ok , she said if i was to start going crazy with it like downloading full films , using it as full time modem for my pc etc then things would be different
i dont know if i was just lucky :-)
just incase i now use the wifi at home on o2 mobile web when out and about
but i did go 49mb over the 200mb limit and was treated very well indeed
imagine if i had a bill for 150 pound for 49mb of internet i woulda been so annoyed

Good suggestion Smartpulse,i'll do that. One thing in my data log it has sent and recieved, how do i work out my usage is it just a case of adding both together?.Good news Buxz777,bet you were dreading that phone bill.I have no doubt(knowing the greed of the networks)if they could have charged you for the data they would have.I won't be heavy user on downloads but 1st thing i'll be downloading is opera mini which will help me spread that 200mb allowance.

cor they didnt do that for me , might get on the phone and see if they can in the future , i dont want them suprising me in the future with a bill of 3 pound a megabyte if i go over , allthough they were very nice about it last time and didnt charge a penny but could have had 150 pounds , i
i have complained to o2 customer services about the measly 200mb allowance when three , tmobile , vodafone , all offer much more i think the only people o2 beat on unlimited internet is orange
maybe if everyone on o2 rang up and said the same they might compete a bit more as o2 say they pride thereselves on customer relations and good deals etc but for the same amount of £ on other networks you get much more allowance
so if you have o2 account just spend 5 mins complaining about the internet allowance ;-)

Most, if not all "unlimited" services have a fair usage policy for their own protection and to be fair to other subscribers. The classic "all you can eat" restaurant has a closing time"
I've exceeded FUP's in the past and basically, they will give you a few warnings if it's regular and, as in my case, I was advised to take a larger package when the over-use continued.. But they've never inforced any penalties. It wouldn't stand up when advertised as "unlimited" - as her manager said.

Just to add to the following replies; my previous tariff ran out and I upgraded in the middle of last month, adding the Unlimited Web Bolt-On so I didn't have to fork out £3 per megabyte.
I asked the O2 rep what the actual limit to this "Unlimited" service was and she said they have no set cap for you to reach. As Bux said, the gist of the answer was that even if you use the service heavily provided you're not downloading full films or using the phone as your primary internet connection you won't run in to any problems.
Even if you do use it too much she stressed heavily that they would contact you before they disconnected your service or start charging you extra. Basically, it sounds like they really do mean unlimited - provided you don't abuse it!
