ATT SMS help

Hello,
Great site and what a great phone !!

Have a problem with receiving SMS messages, they come thru but get chopped up into 2-3 SMS messages when there is clearly enough for just one message.
This happens with all USA and International messages and its a PITA !

TIA to all who help.

Wow, 44 views and no one has had the same problem. Hmmm wonder if I should do a hard reboot or call Nokia and see what they say is the problem.
Thanks for viewing.

ok my first question would be did you run the settings wizard? Second what service are these messages coming from? Third what is the length of the actual message? Is it from the same phone or from different phones that this is happening?

jkoppee,

In the settings wizard are two options, one for "operator" and "email" none for SMS.

I dont understand your second question as far as what service the messages are coming from, and third question is they come from different phones mainky from SMS's coming in from Europe.
I used the phone in Europe with Telenor's SIM card and didnt have problems like this, I am strongly thinking it has something to do with AT&T.
Just thought I would try to see here if someone else had same problem here.
I apologize for my lack of knowledge of the N95 as it is my first Nokia.
Thank you for the reply,

Bajo

My second question meant are the messages coming from a T-mobile phone, another AT&T phone but you say they are coming mainly from Europe. This may have something to do with international SMS messages being split up into smaller bits to be sent overseas and not being rejoined on this end. You could try calling AT&T and see what they say.

this is bizarre. I've never had that problem w/ ATT and either my N95-3 or N95-4. N DC and close in I've found ATT to be reliable.

Thanks to all who replied, will have to call AT&T as more problems arose this weekend, seems that if I am somewhere that AT&T doesnt have coverage the phone just freezes and have to take battery out to restart. Tried another SIM card also that doesnt have coverage and have no problems with phone. When in AT&T coverage range have no problems otherwise have to put in offline mode. Hmmmm smells like a bad SIM card I just got. Again thanks all. Will post back after talking to ATT.

I've had this problem repeatedly in the midwest us. I think it is a problem with att roaming especially on alltel's net.

Well, seems the SIM card was crappy. Edge is def better now. Was real slow before. The dang thing still freezes the phone up whenever I am in an area where ATT doesnt have coverage, weird. SMS's from overseas still come in bundles of 3 messages where they could easily fit in 1 message. Been thinking about of going the Verizon way.
Wish I had better news, ie that all it was was a bad SIM card and the phone is working as expected but alas, no.
