hi everyone, looking for info from anyone who belongs to 3 in Ireland with there n95. looking at buying an n95 and joining 3. i talked to them yesterday and they say they have no plans to introduce this phone from there network. does anyone use it on this network and does it work properly or is it worth going through another network? thanks guys.

Hi Mark,

I'm not on 3 Ireland but I can tell you that no operator in Ireland offer the N95 as one of their handsets, be it pay as you go or contract. I don't know if they will in the future as it's something I have not looked into. Even on Nokia's IE website they list the N95 as "Coming Soon" even though you can buy it SIM free from various retailers.

I'm on Vodafone and will be buying my N95 directly from Expansys SIM free. I saw in the UK that Vodafone and Orange have disabled the VoIP functionality on their N95 phones and I'm sure so will Vodafone in Ireland if they do eventually sell it. Ok, it's just one feature and everyone may not use it but screw them if they think I'll wait for them to bring out a phone that they've tampered with to protect their revenue.

Of course a SIM free N95 will work with your 3 SIM. The only problem after that is the €740 price tag!

good luck mark in ireland!

It should work in any GSM network, whatsoever (US or European) with a compatible SIM card. I use t-mobile here in the states, and they don't sell or support the n95 either... and I've had no problems.
Let us know if it works for you.. I plan on bringing my n95 on my next trip to Ireland myself...

Three will not offer N95 or any other symbian phone after being stung.

Also, unless an N95 runs Three software, it wont work on their network - so SIM free/generic is out too!

Their stance happened after the N73, and as a result of N73 and N80. All down to their butchering of the OS, adding in that advert bit on the bottom of the screen (which you cant remove), and locking out being able to use GSM only - as three are only 3G. Yes, before you say it they use Orange and O2 when there is no 3G coverage but they dont want you to have a say in this.

N73, at this time, is the last symbian phone they will offer. They prefer S40 or windows mobile as they can butcher them handsets easily without customers complaining as much! ;)
