T-Mobile USA and brand new N95

I'm looking for hints from T-Mobile USA (tmobile usa) users. My N95 arrives on Monday, and I want to be as prepared as possible.

It looks like the first thing I do (after moving my SIM to it) is to go to Nokia - Get settings - Set up - Get support and software to have T-Mobile USA settings sent to it.

I saw someone mention that t-mobile.com can do that too, but I don't see any mention of the N95 on their site. ;(

I currently subscribe to unlimited T-zones for ~ $5/month.. I keep reading "hints" that that, alone, can be utilized for nearly full internet access w/ some tips and tricks.. but what are those tips and tricks?

A few applications on my "to download" list are the gmail app, mgmaps, sportstracker... any others I can't live w/o?

Lastly (for now), what methods are there for reading MS Exchange email like all my Blackberry foe's do? Obviously they are using a BES server to relay messages to them... what do N95 users do for Exchange access? I don't have POP or IMAP ports open through the firewall.. is that necessary?

Thanks!

I don't know much about the Exchange Server but if you keep your T-zones service you can access the full web with the built in browser. I also have unlimited messaging and use the MMS access point for web access.

the best tool for exchange is the nokia mail for exchange.

As long as the server has OWA and the user has the rights to use a mobile then it works a dream

I bought the phone, put in the tmobile chip from my old phone, and it worked fine.
Regarding tzones etc; I discontinued all data plans (including extra SMS) because I found with wifi I just didn't need them; I have access to wifi 23+ hours a day.
Mail for Exchange worked fine for me, accessing my exchange server; so did RoadSync.. but the first one is free :)
The one thing I've noticed with Tmobile... most of the service commands in the manual don't work.

Well, the phone arrived yesterday.. I've been using it as much as possible since then. I have had it all of 25 hours now. I've already killed the battery twice.

I installed Nokia's Mail for Exchange, and it seems to work fine. I'm still figuring out what synchronize options I want.. It annoyed me that it beeped w/ each "new email".. but that all seems configurable to some extent.. so that's good. I think I'll just leave it on Manual synchronization mode, since I'm not too interested in work emails while I'm away from my computer (yet, anyway).

MgMaps seems to be really cool. That's what has probably killed my battery the most, I'd guess. I drove around town a bit w/ the GPS auto syncing w/ the google map data via T-Zones.. Is there a way to switch from T-zones to WLAN while in MgMaps? I couldn't find a method that didn't involve exiting the program first.

T-Zones seems to be sufficient. I've heard that it doesn't allow for video streaming and whatnot, but so far I haven't tried it out. I'm sure I'll get to it one day soon and be disappointed.

I'll probably install SportsTracker tonight..

Looks like I may need another charger.. are there any exceptionally small chargers that anyone recommends?

I sure wish T-Mobile would hurry up w/ their network upgrades.. the EDGE speeds are not very exciting.

Surfing the web was surprisingly good. But I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the "SSL" and non-SSL warning prompts...? And how do you cycle between browser windows? Is there an alt-tab equivilant to switch between running programs?

I don't think so, unfortunately n95 isn't smart when it comes to moving from wlan > network and back again... tmobile is rolling out hotspots@home which will offer phones that do exactly that...

Havent seen anything smaller than the one that ships with the n95 which is nice'n'small.

>>>But I'm wondering if there is a way to disable the "SSL" and non-SSL warning prompts...?

You can disable security messages > Web > Settings > General > Security Warnings > Hide, but I don't recommend it, it can jam up when the web page is waiting for a response from you but the phone is supressing the message!

>>> And how do you cycle between browser windows? Is there an alt-tab equivilant to switch between running programs?[/quote]

The only thing Ive seen is when you hit 'back' you are presented with a miniview of your windows history and can flip back and forth between them....

t-zones let you do all http and https and pop. I haven't tried imap. I couldn't stream you tube. But edge is so slow, you wouldn't want to.
