I think you mean your data settings don't work, not that the entire GSM tranciever is busted....

run your settings wizard, it should pick up 4 connections and automatically map them to your services: Go Rogers, media, Rogers Internet, and Rogers VPN. If you want to do it manually, there's a good guide to Rogers access settings on Ho-Fo stickied under the Rogers forum...

Roger,s pricing

I live in Toronto, Canada. The good news is my N95 GPS works great since I installed the v12 firmware. The bad news is that rogers charged me $195.64
for the month of sept., with a total of 11318 KB. I have just bought a bluetooth GPS and plan to run that on the N95. SIRFiii with no agps. I will try this to get rid of the download charges. This has to work or I will take my chances on not getting lost.
John

wow, so GPS does work with Rogers eh. the $195 hurts though, almost a 1/4 of the value of the phone.

It is a lot, but I was trying the gps a lot since I just got the phone a month earlier. But hopefully when I get the bluetooth, the price for gps usage will be zip.

11mb+ for using AGPS on Rogers??

Im quite sure that data didnt come from agps. Im on Rogers and subscribe to a plan giving me 1.5 mb of data a month. AGPS takes no data whatsoever (6kb everytime you initiate a GPS lock, either by opening Maps or other, and 6kb every once in a while using GPS). If I were you, id check your overall log to see where that data charge came from. The log records every individual session for the past 30 days. if you used 11mb in just AGPS it means u initiated a GPS lock 1886 times in a month, which i highly doubt.

int he applications folder there is an app called log. Go in and click right to go to the next tab. This shows you a complete log of all voice, sms, data, wifi etc sessions that you make. clicking a data session will show u how much was transferred in that one session.

TMAC is right, the 11 MB of data you downloaded were maps not the A-GPS charges. You can disable the data usage of the Maps program. Under Settings --> Network --> Use Network. Then choose "Never". So it won't download maps from the network.

The best and cheapest (well actually free) way to get maps is to use Maploader on your PC.

Nokia Europe - Nokia Maps

You just insert your memory card on your PC and copy the maps you need. No more unnecessary data charges. I'm in Toronto and I use GPS quite often, even used it in the States and I never got charge not even a penny!

Hope that helps! Goodluck!
