N95 in canada?

Hello, I was wondering if anyone here knew if Nokia was planning on releasing this phone in canada. The 2 GSM carriers are Rogers wireless and Fido and there is no information about a release on their website so i figured someone here might have the answer.

There have been rumors- but nothing reliable that I've heard.

Seeing how the Nokia N-series isn't sold in Canada, it'd be highly doubtful they'd debut with the flagship, no?

Yeah I highly doubt it....Nokia hasnt really made an impact in the Canadian market, with the highest profile handsets to make it here being the 6820 and 8800, which didnt sell very well at all..

Ive been with rogers all my life, never owned anything but Nokias and ALWAYS bought from overseas.

I'm not familiar with GSM because iam with bell right now, do you mean to say you could just order any GSM phone and make it work with Rogers?

Yes, most unlocked GSM phones will work in Canada, provided you're on a GSM network.

It depends on what frequency your provider works on, however I'm quite sure that Triband and Quadband phones will work in Canada

Yes what LittleJohny is saying is correct. Any tri band or quad band phone usually will work here in Canada. It needs to support the local frequency (not sure what it is in Canada off the top of my head). All you need to do is buy it unlocked, sign up with Rogers and put your SIM card in the unlocked phone. The Nokia settings wizard that comes with the n95 does a great job of configuring all the Rogers data access points. The only thing youll need to do is manually put in the Voice mailbox phone number, which u can get online, from rogers, or by looking at any other rogers customer's phone settings.

Fido is owned by Rogers so to get on Fido is the same process.

I use my n95 on rogers and it works flawlessly.

If youre looking at purchasing try tigerdirect.ca. They sell the US version unlocked for a good price.

Rogers only seems to have top of the line blackberrys....and i guess if they get the k850 thats the premier phone in sony's camera line. But overall they pass of outdated tachnology at the same price.

On Rogers as well, and I also got mine from tigerdirect.

I actually couldn't be happier that Rogers doesn't carry high end phones. Makes me feel that much more special. I'd hate to drop this much money on a phone and then see every guy and his neighbour's dog having the same phone.
