Follow the link I provided to debrand the phone.

A generic branding should enable the phone to be used on your local network, assuming you have a philipino Sim

You need the phone's SIM-lock removed, de-branding and/or upgrading the firmware won't help if your phone is SIM-locked to UK Vodafone.

25 dollars to have this done locally is a very good price!

In the UK, to SIM-unlock an N95 (NOT an easy one to do!) I'd expect to pay 20-30GBP = 40-60USD ... Or possibly a bit more than that.

It's not just a matter of using software to generate the code and then entering it... Leads need to be connected to it and expensive gadgets linked-up. Don't forget that the SIM-lock is designed to be tamper-proof... The electronics that are used to get round it don't come cheap!

However if your only option is to pay 100USD, then at least it will mean that you have an unlocked phone that will work with any SIM... Whether it's worth that much to you or not, is your decision...

The details on how to unlock without going through the Network Operator are in the Hardware Hacks section.

Vodafone UK will supply the unlocking code by post but I think you'll need a UK address. They charge 20 pounds (40 USD) if the phone is less than a year old and nothing if its over a year old. I've had an N70 and N80 unlocked for free by being a bit vague about when I bought it - they're not that bothered.

I think you might need a Vodafone account too, but Vodafone will supply a Vodafone Pay as You Go SIM card and number for free.

Could you get whoever you bought the phone from to do it for you? You don't have to send them the phone, only give them the IMEI number.
