N95 8GB in UK

I find this from mobiletoday in uk

8GB Nokia
16:38PM Tue 2 October 2007

Vodafone and Phones 4u have both lined up the Nokia N95 with 8GB of memory for the Christmas quarter. The new version retains the five megapixel camera and GPS features from the original handset, but has been equipped with twice as much memory.

It will be sold from November and will enter the market at a time where music is a key element for manufacturers and networks. Nokia recently launched a music service called Music Store and it will be available on the new N95.

So what's the deal? Just 8gb memory and a bigger screen?

8gb SD's will be out in a month or so, about £60... Probably 16gb soon after?
As for the screen, just hold it closer to your face!

Or have they done something wild and improved the build quality. (Which would be worth it! LOL)

that's exactly what i was going to say (except for the build quality part)... . i've been going around telling people that there isnt much point of getting the n95 8GB lol, and thankfully they agreed with me . Just imagine what you can do with the 8, 16 and the 32 GB memory cards...100% pleasure!

Excellent.

But the slider quality on the N95 is unforgivable! When I compare it to my works phone, E65, the difference is unreal.

Just read that the 8gb version doesn't have a card reader? Bit of a step backwards eh. Or perhaps they are just trying to make it more like an iPod! http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...k/Product.html

There must be more to it.

You have? Well, according to the report from our Pseudo, the slider on the new US version is as dodgy as ever (some are firm, some aren't, you take your chances as before), so I can't see the new 8G version being any different. :(

BUT... We have the technology to sort it! :)

I'm talking about the 8gb version.
Rafe @ allaboutsymbian played with a few and they were sturdy with a nice solid slider,no wobbles at all.

In that case I'd be interested in a strip-down to see how it's been modified... Or maybe the guy just struck lucky? ;)

I think the E65 uses a different mechanism, a whirly thing, you can see it behind the slider. It's sooooooo smooth. But I guess they needed to make a different mechanism for the (oh so useful) 2-way slider (that I use all the time, not).

I'm pro-N95 by the way, I just think the build quality is poo, for the money.
