Constant Packet data connection on Orange

Almost every minute i leave my phone on it attempts to make connections on the Orange internet. Luckly im on pay as you go and it hasn't cost me too much.

I took the phone to an orange shop where the manager "fixed the problem" and within 10 minutes of topping up my phone i had lost 40p and had spent 5 minutes and 33 seconds on orange interent.
This is very annoying as i now have to keep the phone on offline mode.

Is there any reason why it would do this? and if so are there any possible solutions?

Many thanks

You could try:
Menu -> Tools -> Settings -> Connection -> Packet Data -> Packet Data Connection -> When Needed

Sound like something to do with the Orange software (Assuming you have a branded device)

But I'm not familiar with the software itself, sorry :(

Hopefully just an Orange retail shop

Might be worth giving their customer services a ring first

In the web browser, go to options > general > setings.

What is "Access point" set to? If it isn't "always ask" the set it to that.

You could try this... taken from the TIPS section...

*#7780# .......... Factory Reset
Factory Reset resets all settings to defaults but keeps any applications you have installed and photos etc.

OR if that doesn't do the trick...

*#7370# .......... Format phone
Format phone restores phone to as if it was out of the box. Retains firmware version and operator Variant changes but wipes all applications you have installed.

A pretty sure solution would be to de-brand the phone but that would almost certainly mean that you would lose any Orange warranty.
