Sort of. While vodafone didnt impress me much recently, it wasnt that bad. And they do have that FIT35 thing, which from what Ive seen on various forums does tend to get most things sorted. Ive also heard O2 have something similar.

I would just get a new contract with another operator one that does not cripple the phone either O2 or T-Mobile (T-Mobile offer nice data plans btw) then when you hit the 6 month mark lower the tariff and pay of the remaining money you owe them. Or just refuse to pay them all together then they will cut you off and demand you pay them, then you can just tell them they havent got your billing right from day one and you aint paying unless it sorted they will listen then :)

hardly anyone actually checks their bills with a fine tooth comb, this is where the big telco's do a dodgy and make money. charge $1 extra per customer per month = $1million profit per year

Hi Sandi,
If you have the name of the guy who offered to look into this and come back to you, why don't you call in and try to speak to him. He might be off sick, or maybe he is still investigating what needs to be done to sort the mess out, which is why he hasn't called you yet.
If the customer service line doesn't work, try the switchboard and ask for him (if you have his full name). I agree that it is probably easier to fix the problem with your current provider, than to move on.
I have had contracts on most of the UK networks (Voda, O2, Orange and T-Mobile), they are all much of a muchness.
When I decided to get an N95, I looked around at the options available, and T-Mobile was best for data, much better than my then current provider (O2). I went through to retentions who tried to persuade me to stay, but they realised in the end that they could not compete on price, and put through the request for a PAC code.... 2 weeks later (and a lot of calls), it eventually came through.
Stay in there.....

Well Sandi... You've been given some very good advice so far... All I can add is that if your undoubted feminine wiles don't win over the guys in the Orange shop and you do decide to switch providers, I can't recommend T-Mobile highly enough.
I abandoned Orange for T-Mob a couple of years back and was amazed at the difference in the way that I was treated, in my experience so far, their CS staff are friendly, helpful and do their very best to sort any problems out... AND they call you back when they say that they will !!
They have a vast range of tariffs to suit almost everyone and if you go with a web 'n walk tariff, you have 1 GB of data to play with each month... PLUS if you exceed that amount (which takes a bit of doing!) then, instead of a nasty surprise in your next bill, all you get is a warning.
I've never regretted leaving Orange in the slightest!

Just remember, if your thinking of going to another provider check you get signal in the places you need (home/work) otherwise its very frustrating. The best way to do this, if you cannot get hold of a mates phone on that network, is to use the town forum.

I'd move as staying with them is almost condoning their rubbish behavior.

My own personal tack in dealings with another operator was to demand the contract be terminated due to breach of contract on their part in not being able to supply the service you pay for and expect. We sign up to contracts (good or bad ones) with the reasonable expectation of a given level of telephone service at a roughly similar price every month allowing for slight fluctuations in usage.
If you are having to correct their bills every month through their inability to get things right they are not providing the service you are paying for.
Be polite but very insistent in your dealings with them and let them realise that termination is not just a negotiating point but a demand, if you have a good case they may well go with this if you're lucky.

Well thank you to everyone!.
Drm, I was considering that.....I mean I could afford it but my minds telling me I shouldnt let them get away with it!
I went to the Orange shop, but the fella was adamant. He showed me the notes on my account and my bills. The notes, well, no-ones actually been noting my calls down! Turns out the extra charges are for.....internet access. After 2 months of asking they still haven't put the bundle on, and I'm getting charged for data. The Orange Shop Guy made out that was MY fault, and I should know that it would take a while for the bundle to effect.
"Not two months..." I hissed. There was something about the git I didnt like, then it dawned on me he used to come to my salon a few years ago.
I left the shop, FUMING!! I called 150 straightaway and got a happy chap fro Newcastle who said he was personally going to take this on. He gave me 200 extra mins for 6 months for the inconvience, and told me I was just to pay £36 (what I actually due them, he says, and he also said I can quote him on it) and put a bundle on to start today. I was also to phone him today and I have his extension number...sooooo BRB!
