AT&T Says N95-3 Not 3G Able?
I called att support yesterday to record new N95-3 IMEI. After updating record, rep said that her status message said "Unit not G3 enabled. Removing G3 capability."
Previous phone was Moto V3xx and data plan is tethering and unlimited data.
I don't live in G3 area but travel frequently to G3 coverage.
My question is this:
What, if anything, did you have to tell the rep to fire up the HDSPA function?

you're referring to 3G right? the phone should be able to handle AT&T's 3G. maybe visit their stores for help?

Also make sure if you've had your old phone for a long time you get a new 3G sim card and then make sure you talk to someone that knows what they are talking about. I've seen a couple AT&T reps that have them and are using 3G.

No settings are required. If you are in a 3G area, 3G- or 3.5G will be displayed where you would normally see the "E" indicator under the signal meter when you transfer data over the EDGE network.
They can't "remove" 3G from your account as far as I know- unless they were talking about a data rate plan, though AT&T charges the same for 3G as they do for EDGE. Data is data with them.
One thing you can check on your phone is this- Menu>Tools>Settings>Phone>Network and make sure 'Network mode' is set to 'Dual mode'.
Edit- Also... for what it's worth, I've never given AT&T an IMEI number from any of my phones.

Sim is new, exchanged about a month ago because V3xx was behaving...funky. That IS an acceptable cell phone term, isn't it?
Good idea and I checked but, 'Network mode' IS set to 'Dual mode'.
I can't get automatic voice mail notifications if they don't have correct imei. Not sure why that is, but I use this sim with 3 phones and only the phone with the recorded imei gets voicemail waiting notification automatically.
Plan A == Next week I'll travel though KC (g3 covered area) and if I don't get g3, I'll dial 611 and weep and wail.
Thanks All!!

I've never heard that one about voicemail. I baught my N95, inserted the sim card and never told them anything. Mine works fine. Done this with several other phones also.
SideNote, it's 3G just to clarify and make it easier for people using the search function on here

It could be a function of my account. This account is so old it still has gait functions enabled.
This whole discussion is most probably a function of the n95 just not being on att's list of supported phones. I don't know that there is a problem and won't till next week. Thanks All!!

3G is a function of the SIM card. No 3G sim card, the rep will think no 3G is available on the phone. My N95-3 works great on 3G and 3.5G. On the AT&T 3G capable SIM cards there's a little flaming orange ball with a 3G inside of it.

I just realized that my n95-3 has my old sim card but it says 3G in the upper left. Do I still need to update my sim card if it does not have the 3g ball of fire on it or am I ok because the phone says 3G???

Shouldn't make any difference as long as it says 3G on the card.
