German Mobile Networks - Anyone In The Know?

I'm off to Germany in a couple of months, for about 10 days, and am trying to find out if any of the networks out there have any decent data tariff's for PAYG/pre-paid. Unlimited would be nice, but not necessary, just few megabytes a day would suffice.

My scouring of the the operator websites has so far produced a blank, mostly due to me not having a decent enough knowledge of the german language.

Anyone in the know, a german, or can read the lingo to help me out?

hey there steve..

these days with google language tools.. you can browse almost all websites of various languages and read them in english..

step 1: go to google language tools- Language Tools
step 2: under 'translate a webpage, enter the german website you want to go in.. and select german-english
step 3: you will see the german website translated in english.. and if u click on any of the links, it will b automatically translated into english as well..

i find the language tools very useful.. i can even browse russian sites, french, italian and a lot more..

Hi,

Here in Germany, we've got a couple of cheap pre-paid data-tariffs.

Vodafone for example offers a so-called WebSessions pre-paid tariff. The prices for this tariff are just changing at the moment. In a couple of weeks this tariff will cost 1,95€ for 30 minutes, 2,95€ for 1 hour and 7,95€ for 24 hours. Until 30.04.08 the 24 hours WebSession-tariff will only cost 4,95€ instead of 7,95€

T-Mobile Germany just announced to offer an Internet Day-Flat also for pre-paid users. For a limited time this day-flat will cost 4,95€ per day and in a couple of months it will cost 7,95€ per day... (so it's pretty much the same as the vodafone-tariffs).
I think right now this tariff can't be ordered yet. But in a couple of weeks it should be availible.

We've also got a couple of discounters in the e-plus network here in Germany.
For example blau.de - der Mobilfunk-Discounter
There you get get a pre-paid card, and 1 MB of data-transfer costs 0,24€.
The starter kit of this carrier costs 19,90€ and at the moment you get 20€ credit with this starter kit.

I hope, that helped a little.
As soon as I know more, concerning the T-Mobile Day-Flat, I'm gonna write again.

Greets,
Tobi
