3 UK's official response to unlocking

Thanks for your email. Here’s some useful information about unlocking your mobile.

Unlocking your mobile
• Original registered owner. We can only unlock your phone if you’re the original registered owner. If you are, call us on one of the numbers below. There are a few things we need to talk to you about before unlocking your phone.
• Already called us for an unlock code? If you’ve called us for an unlock code and haven’t received it yet, remember that it can take between 7 and 15 days to receive it. If this time has already passed, please call us for an update. Unfortunately, we can’t give you an update by email.
• Have a second hand mobile? If you bought the phone second hand, like from a friend or seller on eBay, you’ll need to ask them to call us so they can authorise you to unlock the phone. If you’re having trouble contacting the original owner, unfortunately we won’t be able to help you. These security measures are in place to protect you against fraud.
• Pay As You Go SIM card. If we do unlock the phone and you’re in the United Kingdom, you could think about buying a Pay As You Go SIM card from us. These are available for just £9.99 on our website Welcome to 3 or you can buy them at any 3 Store.

If you have any questions or need to talk to us because you’re the registered owner, please call us on either 333 from a 3 mobile (free), 08707 330 333 from any UK telephone (national rate), or +44 7782 333333 if you’re abroad.

Thanks for contacting 3.

There you go,
Perfect ctrl c, ctrl v . I had also asked them about the hardware logo (if any) and the latest firmware (just like that, i AM going to debrand)

Hope this helps friends , if any of you want to get it unlocked.

What do you mean?

Unlock the phone as in accept other network sims or unbrand it as in use a generic fimware?

Your title talks about unlocking yet you talk about firmware.

Funnily enough I rang Three last week when my N95 went kaput. I dug out my old 6280 which I'd bought off eBay from a Three customer years ago. I was hoping they'd unlock it for me seeing as its yeeeeears old now the phone.

Nope. They wouldn't budge an inch. Weren't interested in helping me.

Generally O2 and usually vodafone too use generic handsets which sometimes have their own firmware on but rarely carry a simlock

My last phone was a SE W850i, which I got unlocked for the mrs. when she swapped her N95 for the W850i with me (sucker!). I have never had an unlocked phone on vodafone.
